COST has launched a new tool for supporting PhD students or Early Career Investigators (ECIs) from participating Inclusiveness Target Countries to attend international science and technology related conferences that are not specifically organized by COST EMF-MED. (Please mind that, due to this restriction, no grants can be considered for participation in 2018 EMF-Med Conference). The grants are based on the accepted oral/poster presentation related to COST EMF-MED topics. The applicant presentation must be listed in the official event/conference program.

The main subject of the oral/poster presentation must be on the topic of the COST EMF- MED and the paper/abstract/presentation must acknowledge COST EMF-MED. The application must be submitted at least 15 days before the conference start date.

A Conference Grant is a fixed financial contribution and does not necessarily cover all of the expenses related to participating in a given conference. Further details can be found in section 8 of COST Vademecum.

For this Grant period (i.e. till October 15th) we will budget this activity with up to ca. 5000 euros in total. Selection criteria include: Benefit of the conference attendance (compatibility with COST EMF-MED; added-value for the applicant, home institution and COST Action EMF-MED).

Attendance at European conferences is preferred. However, conferences held elsewhere can also be considered. Applicants can expect that the grants will be limited to up to 1000 euros for attending a conference in Europe and up to 1500 euros for conferences elsewhere.

Interested applicants should apply online to e-cost platform immediately, and in any case, respecting the 15-days-rule. We’ll collect and review the applications on three cut-off dates:

  • Friday, June 1st 2018;
  • Friday, June 28th  2018 (subject to availability of the funds after the 1st cut-off date);
  • Friday, July 27th 2018 (subject to availability of the funds after the previous cut-off dates).

Additionally, the interested applicants should express their interest by sending email to the ESR/STSM/Training Coordinator, Prof. Stavros Koulouridis, email: koulouridis@upatras.gr. A copy (CC:) should be sent to Action Secretariat: COST-EMF-MED@fesb.hr. Subject of the email should start with “COST BM1309 – ITC CGs Application” in order to allow for handling messages properly. The applicant should attach:
1) Two- page letter of interest in which he/she will be a) explaining why the subject is in the interest of COST EMF-MED; b) Providing a short description of his/her involvement in the action c) describing the added value for the applicant and the host institution; d) stating the session the paper has been accepted; the name of the conference, location and web address; projected date of the conference; e) estimating the expenses;
2) A copy of abstract or manuscript accepted (whichever is applicable);
3) Curriculum Vitae (CV) – including a list of academic publications – if applicable;
4) Acceptance letter from the conference organizers (confirming either the speaking slot or the poster presentation).

After the conference, the grantee needs to send in the presentation/poster/manuscript that is acknowledging COST EMF-MED. In addition, the Grantee has 30 calendar days from the end date of the Conference to upload a report to the eCOST platform (applicant is notified). Use the COST EMF-MED ITC CG report template found on COST EMF-MED website. (Do not use the generic template found on eCOST!). Before uploading the report to eCOST platform send it first to ESR/STSM/Training Coordinator, Prof. Stavros Koulouridis, email: koulouridis@upatras.gr. A copy (CC:) should be sent to Action Secretariat: COST-EMF-MED@fesb.hr. Payment of the Grant is subject to the submitted scientific report being approved by the Action Chair.

Please mind: The conference should end within the current Grant Period (up to October 15th 2018).
