Addition to Prague program – excursion to Institute of Photonics and Electronics labs – Bioelectrodynamics Research Team

Excursion to Institute of Photonics and Electronics labs – Bioelectrodynamics Research Team

The Bioelectrodynamics Research Team ( http://bioed.ufe.cz ) at the Institute of Photonics and Electronics ( www.ufe.cz ) in Prague will organize an excursion to its laboratories prior to our Mini-training on Monday, November 16.

Parts of the Institute’s research portfolio relevant to our action include dielectric spectroscopy of liquid samples, modeling of electrodynamic effects in proteins and measurement of endogenous photonic bio-signals.

Program:

13:00 Get together
13:05 Introduction of the Institute of Photonics and Electronics
13:15 Research portfolio of the Bioelectrodynamics Research Team
13:45 Visit to the lab of photonic bio-signals
13:55 Visit to the RF development lab (dielectric spectroscopy)
14:05 Visit to the lab of optical biosensors
14:25 Visit to the Nanotechnology Laboratory
14:45 Discussion
15:00 End

Please note that the capacity of the excursion is limited to 15 participants due to limited space in the labs. Please indicate your interest in attending the excursion by voting in the Doodle pool (you can find the link given in the e-mail from the Action Chair).

Pleaes note that the venue for this excursion is different from the main venue (different institution). Registered participants are kindly requested to gather at the reception of the Institute of Photonics and Electronics (see Directions bellow) on Monday, November 16, at 13:00. After the excursion, we will go together to the main venue – campus of the Czech Technical University in Prague, where the rest of the event will take place (starting with welcome coffee/registration at 16:00 and Mini-training at 17:00).

The journey by public transportation will take about 40 minutes and participants are kindly requested to have their tickets arranged in advance (single ticket for 32 CZK or higher is necessary).

The main building of the Institute is located in the northern part of Prague called Kobylisy and it is easily accessible by city transportation. The easiest way how to get there is to use the subway (Metro). You should travel with a subway train on the line C to the station “KOBYLISY”. From there it’s about a 10 minutes of walk. However, you can also take a tram no. 17 in direction “VOZOVNA KOBYLISY”. The main building is situated between the stops “LIBEZNICKA” and “VOZOVNA KOBYLISY”. You will have immediate visual contact with a big building with a small tower and some antennas at the top. The entrance to the building is marked with the logo of the Institute, an abbreviation UFE which stands for the Czech name of the Institute.
